THE INDIA PROJECT

ABOUT US

The India Project was founded by Ecolint teachers, Kate and Dave Harrison in 2001. It is a service learning project based on the educational principles of global citizenship and learning through action for social impact.

Every year a team of six teachers and thirty students work throughout the academic year to raise awareness and funds to support, promote and develop community health and educational projects in partnership with communities in Tamil Nadu, India.

In April each year, the team travels to India to work and learn in the communities surrounding Kodaikanal. Project work takes place in the three creches, a village school, family homes, and the local hospital in collaboration with families, children, teachers and nurses, skilled workers and community leaders.

Over more than twenty years, the project has had a significant impact on the community in India and it has been an educational journey for Ecolint students, inspiring learning through meaningful relationships, action, social innovation and change for good in Switzerland, India and beyond.
